parent & coach, sandridge rovers centurions
Like many parents of young children with footballing aspirations, I’d taken my 2 boys down to training at St Albans City. Unfortunately, other commitments meant one of my boys couldn’t attend that much and he never settled.
In the summer before the season started, a few dads from school talked about starting a team - as most of their boys hadn’t yet found a club. Sandridge Rovers Juniors enabled us to set up a new team, as long as we could provide the coaching and administrative personnel to run it.
This was a great opportunity for my son to play football in a team with his school friends and, as a PE teacher’s son, I’d always been interested in coaching, so it was an easy decision to step forward and offer to coach the team.
The club have been excellent in providing the opportunity to acquire coaching qualifications, equipment and the support needed to run a football team - to the extent that I have since moved my other son into the team as well.
