parent & coach, Sandridge rovers tigers
My son started playing organised football at another local club at the age of seven. He had a great time and made lots of new friends from other local schools. Sadly, at the end of his second season - and just after he had proudly won players’ player award - the club decided they wanted to run fewer under 9 teams the next season.
A group of eight football mad 8-year olds were suddenly left very upset and with no team to play for.
As a result, a group of parents mobilised and were advised to approach Sandridge Rovers to ask about setting up a new local team. We did so, and three months later, having obtained a couple of level 1 coaching qualifications, we played and won our first game as Sandridge Rovers U9 Tigers.

Of the nine lads who played in that first game, six are still playing for the team now as under 15s.
With the dedication of the lads and a great group of parents, we have had six fantastic years in the black and white stripes. The squad is now 18 strong and the lads just love getting together with their mates, training and playing the beautiful game.
